These slush drink recipes showcase summer fruits. They turn out to be brightly colored and bursting with flavor. A partially frozen healthy drink is always welcome on a hot summer afternoon. Kids will enjoy making these drinks too. Employ younger children in the stirring phase. Older children can make the slushes from start to finish.

Strawberry Mango Slush
This fruit slush is all sweet. Add a squeeze of lemon juice for tartness, or enjoy the smooth mango flavor as it is. The gelatin (with added liquid reduced by half) helps to keep the drink from freezing too hard. This mixture would also make tasty, easy to eat popsicles.
Ingredients:
- 4 ripe Mangoes
- 1 small package Strawberry flavored gelatin
- 1/2 C boiling water
- 1/2 C cold orange juice
- Strawberries for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Peel the mangoes and cut them into chunks. Place the chunks in a blender.
- Stir the gelatin into the hot water. Continue to stir until it is dissolved. Add the orange juice to the gelatin.
- Pour two tablespoons of the orange juice and gelatin mixture into the blender with the mangoes. Puree until smooth. (Use the rest of the orange juice and gelatin in popsicle molds or ice cube trays to make popsicles, if desired).
- Put the mixture into a metal or glass bowl and place it in the freezer.
- After every fifteen minutes, stir the slush mixture. Scrape frozen pieces from the edge of the bowl. In one or two hours, depending on personal preference and freezer temperature, the slush will be ready to drink.
- Pour the frozen drink into glasses and garnish with strawberries.

Red Plum Peach Slush
This fruit slush is just as summery as the Strawberry Mango Slush, but it is much less sweet. The plum skins add deep red or purple color and some tartness to the drink. The combination of sweet summer fruits creates a subtle and clean taste.
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe red or purple plums
- 2 ripe yellow peaches
- 2 T lemon juice
- 2 T sugar
- Lemon Wedges for garnish (optional) and sugar.
Instructions:
- Cut the fruit off of the pits and into chunks. Place the chunks in a blender.
- Add the lemon juice and sugar. Puree until smooth.
- Put the mixture into a metal or glass bowl and place it in the freezer.
- Stir every fifteen minutes, scraping the bowl. After 1-2 hours the slush will be ready.
- Dip lemon wedges, if using, into sugar until they are coated.
- Pour the slush into glasses and garnish with sugared lemon wedges.
Either of the above recipes would be appropriate for any age. Typically, the Strawberry Mango Slush is better received by children because it is so sweet. The Plum Peach Slush is more often appreciated by adults because of it's more grown-up taste. Enjoy!
